Your work – your rights

  • Copyright for your own work applies automatically to you, and to everyone for their own work, regardless of age. Even minors (under 18 years of age) receive copyright protection for their work.
  • Works that are sufficiently independent and original, i.e., works that exceed the threshold of originality, are protected by copyright.
  • Copyright arises automatically as soon as the work is recorded or set out in concrete form, e.g., when an article is written or a photograph is taken.
  • The creator determines how their work may be used.
  • For the publication of works you have created, your consent is needed. If the work has been created by a minor (under 18 years of age), consent of the legal guardians is also required.
  • If it’s a joint work, consent of all creators is required.

The creator decides how their work may be used.
