Regardless of age, students have copyright to materials they have created themselves, such as drawings, essays and written final exam answers. The use of such works requires the student’s consent. If the student is a minor (under 18 years), consent should be sought from the parent(s) or legal guardian.
Copyright applies to a school or college’s intranet, just as it does on the internet. Posting protected material, such as theses or students’ drawings, on the school’s internal network also requires the permission of the relevant student.
